Description

Inspired by Fabrica's autumn exhibition, Reef, we will be screening this West German film directed by Werner Herzog.Fitzcarraldo is an opera-loving eccentric who is determined to move an entire boat overland from one river system to another. The film is bold, epic and retains a sense of madness throughout, as the boat is maneuvered through the jungle.

As a document of a quest and a dream, and as the record of man's audacity and foolish, visionary heroism, there has never been another movie like it’. – Roger Eburt

Wednesday 15 October, Doors & bar 6.30pm, Film starts promptly at 7pm.

Free entry, donations welcome. Nibbles, a low-cost bar, cosy chairs and beanbags make this a warm and welcoming event for all.

Fabrica is a space where everyone can experience art. Through immersive exhibitions and commissions, we introduce visitors to the work of celebrated international and at the same time, we support and commission emerging artists, giving them the financial and creative support to make engaging and thought provoking work. This way, art is always here to surprise, challenge and inspire our communities.

Cultural experiences at Fabrica are often immersive, shaped around our Grade II listed building. No prior knowledge of art is needed to step inside, and to engage, enjoy and respond. At Fabrica, our audiences can experience art in other unexpected ways:  through our ever-changing calendar of film screenings, talks, group discussions and community led events. And through a holistic programme of workshops where they might create sculptures, prints, drawings, textiles that supports learning and increases wellbeing. Our café and private venue hire give people another way to make art part of their everyday lives.
